Report Builder Dimensions Guide

Dimensions, along with measures and filters, are the building blocks of every report you create in the Report Builder. They describe or group your data and determine the columns that appear in your final output.

In Ripple, dimensions consist of custom variables, as well as a set of built-in Ripple dimensions. These Ripple dimensions describe things about studies, participants, or Ripple users .

Below is a summary of all built-in dimensions and what they refer to.

Dimension Name	Refers To
Active Recruitment Start Date	The study's Active Recruitment Start Date in study settings.
Active Recruitment End Date	The study’s Active Recruitment End Date in study settings.
Added to Study by Full Name	The name of the Ripple user who added a participant to a study. If added to a study by import, reflects the Ripple user who performed the import. If added to a study by survey, reflects the user who created the survey.
Age	Participant’s current age. Calculated using participants birthday + today’s date. Found on the profile card under “Current Age.”
Assigned Events	The names of the events associated with participants.
Contact Log Global	True/False (boolean) value of whether a contact log was marked global.
Contact Log Outcome	The outcome of a contact log (e.g., Requested Call Back). Found on the requirements page of study settings. Global.
Contact Log Type	The contact type of a contact log (e.g., Phone Call). Study-Specific.
Contacted by Full Name	The name of the Ripple user reported in the contact log.
Created by Full Name	The name of the Ripple user who created the participant’s profile card. If created by import, reflects the Ripple user who performed the import. If created by survey, reflects the user who created the survey.
Custom ID	A participant’s Custom ID. Study-specific.
Date Added to Enrolled	The date the participant is moved to the Enrolled page. If a participant is moved to Enrolled twice, the report will produce the most recent date.
Date Added to Potential	The date the participant is moved to the Potential page. If a participant is moved to Potential twice, the report will produce the most recent date.
Date Added to Study	The date the participant was added to the study. If a participant is added to a study twice, the report will produce the most recent date.
Date Signed Consent Form	The date “Signed Consent Form” was checked on the profile card.
Datetime of Contact	The datetime of a contact with a participant. Found in the “Date/Time of Contact” on a contact log.
Ethnicity	Participant ethnicity. Found on the requirements page of study settings.
Event Name	The name of an event.
Event Trigger Statuses	The status associated with a certain event.
Family ID	Family ID on the profile card.
Global Date of Last Contact	The global date of last contact on the profile card.
Modified by Full Name	The name of the last user to make a change to the global (not study-specific) attributes of the profile card.
Participant Birthday	Participant’s date of birth. Found on the profile card under Demographic Info.
Participant Contact for Future Studies	True/False (boolean) value that corresponds to the checkbox “Contact for Future Studies?” on the profile card.
Participant Event Completed	True/False (boolean) value that indicates whether an event was marked completed or not.
Participant Event Completed Date	The date and time an event was completed. Found on the profile card under Events → Completed Date. Data will only populate on this dimension if the event is marked as "Completed" on the profile card.
Participant Event End Date	The date and time stored on the profile card for when an event is set to end. Found on the profile card under Events → End Date/Time.
Participant Event Expected Date	The date and time stored on the profile card for an event’s Expected Date. Found on the profile card under Events → Expected Date. Data will only populate on this dimension if the event is marked as "Expected" on the profile card.
Participant Event Missed Date	The date and time stored on the profile card for an event’s Expected Date if the event is marked as Missed. Data will only populate on this dimension if the event is marked as "Missed" on the profile card.
Participant Event Scheduled Date	The date and time stored on the profile card for an event’s Scheduled Date. Found on the profile card under Events → Scheduled Date/Time. Data will only populate on this dimension if the event is "Scheduled" on the profile card.
Participant First Name	The participant’s first name as stored in the First Name field of the profile card.
Participant Full Name	The participant’s first and last name. Does not include middle name.
Participant Global ID	The participant’s Global ID.
Participant Last Name	The participant’s last name as stored in the Last Name field of the profile card.
Participant Middle Name	The participant’s middle name as stored in the Middle Name field of the profile card.
Participant Status	Status name.
Participant Tags	The tags associated with a participant.
Race	Participant race. Found on the requirements page of study settings.
Recruitment Site	Name of recruitment site. Found on the “Recruitment Sources” page of the study.
Recruitment Source	Name of recruitment source. Found on the “Recruitment Sources” page of the study.
Recruitment Strategy	Name of recruitment strategy. Found on “Recruitment Strategy” page of the study.
Sex	Participant sex. Found on the requirements page of study settings.
Status Category	The category for a given status (e.g., Screening, Screened - Excluded Eligibility Not Met). Found in “category” field when editing a status in study settings.
Status Potential	True/False (boolean) value which indicates whether a status for a given study is a Potential status. If True, status is under Potential. If False, status is under Enrolled.
Study Name	Study name.
Study Participant Last Modified By Full Name	The name of the last user to make a change to study-specific attributes of the profile card.
